While an increase in bone density as a result of biphosphonate therapy has certainly been confirmed, this increase in bone mass did not translate in increased bone strength, or bone quality. A steadily growing number of critics not only question the varying standards and accuracy of different bone density measuring machines, but also the widely varying T-scores and their value in predetermining an individual's risk to develop osteoporosis.
